On April 23, 2025, FH Salzburg hosted the TEX-DAN event "Revolutionize Your Wardrobe," aimed at educating consumers on second-hand fashion, wardrobe optimization, conscious consumption, and upcycling. The event, organized in collaboration with Austrian SMEs, allowed participants to bring their own clothing pieces for a clothing swap.

The event featured insightful presentations by representatives from HUMANA Austria and Fashion Revolution Austria. Both organizations shared their core missions and emphasized the critical importance of Fashion Revolution Week in promoting transparency, ethical practices, and sustainability within the global fashion industry. Following the presentations, participants had the opportunity to choose between two interactive workshops. Each offered a hands-on approach to sustainable fashion: one focused on personal wardrobe simplification and conscious styling choices, while the other explored creative upcycling techniques using second-hand garments.

Fashion Revolution Workshop: "Simplify Your Style"

In the workshop “Simplify Your Style”, organized by Fashion Revolution Austria and led by Barbara Reichl and Patricia Fichter, participants explored the concept of wardrobe minimalism and sustainable style principles. The session offered insights into how a reduced, thoughtfully composed wardrobe can contribute to more conscious consumption and a lower environmental impact.

A highlight of the workshop was the personal color analysis provided to attendees. This individualized approach allowed participants to better understand which colors suited them best, offering practical guidance for future clothing choices. The newly gained knowledge was directly applied during the clothing swap that followed: many participants used their color analysis results and style tips to select second-hand items that matched both their preferences and personal color profiles.

HUMANA Austria Workshop: "Old Clothing, New Changes"

In the workshop “Old Clothing, New Changes”, organized by HUMANA Austria and led by Lydia Schiroky and Mariam Nawal Ann Sophie Mrozek, participants engaged with the environmental and social relevance of upcycling and second-hand fashion. The session emphasized the value of extending the life cycle of clothing, both as a sustainable practice and as a form of creative self-expression.

Under the guidance of HUMANA representatives and with professional sewing support from Lisa Hölzl of FH Salzburg, attendees transformed donated garments into entirely new items. Examples included beanies made from old sweaters and bags repurposed from worn-out jeans. This hands-on approach allowed participants to experience the upcycling process firsthand and gain practical skills for giving used clothing a second life.

The workshop highlighted not only the environmental benefits of reducing textile waste, but also the potential of second-hand fashion to foster creativity, individuality, and social responsibility.

Clothing Swap & Social

The night concluded with a lively clothing swap, accompanied by food and drinks. Participants used their newfound tips to find new favourite pieces. Leftover items were donated to HUMANA Austria for a good cause. By the end of the night, 86 pieces (27.6 kg) found new homes, and 199 pieces (46.8 kg) were donated to HUMANA Austria.

This international event attracted students and employees from the USA, Ireland, the Netherlands, Germany, and more, making it a memorable and impactful evening.
